MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE

Owing to the growing spread of COVID19, it has been decided to stop the walk-in Miscellaneous Consular Services at the Embassy of India with effect from March 16, 2020. The services will continue to be provided through Postal mail/shipping.

MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE

Marriage certificate is issued on the basis of entries in applicant’s most recent Indian passport. Therefore, it can only be issued if most recent Indian passport of applicant and spouse in original with one set of photocopies are presented at the counter or by mail.

How to apply:

1.

Download the Miscellaneous Application form and fill it up carefully. Each applicant is required to fill up separate Miscellaneous Application form and affix his/her photograph on the same.

2.

Applicant and spouse may separately submit dully signed Self Sworn Marriage Affidavit

3.

Applicant and spouse holding Indian passport may provide original and photocopy of first five pages and last two pages of their passports.

4.

Those applicants who hold passport other than Indian, may submit notarized copy of the current passport held as well as copy of the last Indian passports held and photocopy of the document showing applicant’s valid US Visa Status

5.

Notarized photocopy of any of the following documents as proof of residence of the applicant: US Driving License, Utility Bill, Lease Agreement, State Identity Card or Mortgage Deed.

Please ensure that photocopies of these documents are legible.

7.

Fee:  A fee of US$25.00 (Twenty-Five Only) per copy and an additional fee of US$2.00 (Two Only) towards Indian Community Welfare Fund (ICWF) per application. The fees may be paid in two separate money order/cashiers’ cheque, drawn separately towards fee and ICWF, in favour of Embassy of India, Washington DC.

8.

Processing time: Ten working days from the date of receipt of mail at the Embassy subject to submission of all requisite documents.

Please send in the application enclosing a trackable pre-paid self-addressed return mailing envelope to Consular Section, Embassy of India, 2536 Massachusetts Avenue NW, Washington DC 20008. Incomplete applications will be sent back indicating the requisites to complete those.
