JOB VACANCY

The Embassy of India in Washington DC invites applications for the following positions from the applicants who are either US citizens or permanent residents with valid appropriate visa and valid work permit: -

(1)      Social Secretary

Required qualifications and skill set:

  • A University Degree or equivalent qualification preferably in International Relations;
  • Preferably two years of work experience;
  • Effective public relations, communication skills in English language (both written and spoken);
  • Event management skills;
  • Proficiency in computer skills (MS Office and social media);
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously;
  • Willingness to work beyond office hours in case required.

Work Profile:

  • Provide Secretarial assistance, maintain and schedule appointments;
  • Respond to telephone or written inquiries;
  • Accord necessary support and assistance in planning, managing and executing official events/functions in the Mission;
  • Assistance in planning, logistics and execution of social engagements at the Residence of Head of Mission;
  • Other secretarial tasks that may be assigned from time to time.

Initial Pay: US$ 3666 p.m. + 75 p.m. (towards medical insurance premium).

(2) Marketing Assistant (Commerce)

Required qualifications and skill set:

  • A University Degree or equivalent qualification preferably in Business & Marketing/commercial law;
  • Knowledge of International Trade Issues, including Intellectual Property Rights;
  • Adequate experience in inter-disciplinary analysis of trade and commerce vis-à-vis international political developments;
  • Proficiency in English language, communication skills, teamwork, Computer Operation - including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.
  • Knowledge of US Government functioning, rules & regulations, and Policies;
  • Organizational skills to plan promotional events;
  • Keenness to learn and willingness to work hard

Work Profile:

  • Preparing of reports including daily, monthly and bi-monthly reports
  • Timely handling of all trade related queries
  • Maintaining database of Indian/US importers/exporters
  • GSP-Monitoring, reporting, submission of replies, follow up, etc.
  • Collect, update and analyze trade & market data for monthly and bi-monthly reports and updating briefs and Embassy website
  • Monitor Indian investments / acquisitions / mergers in the US and vice versa
  • Disposal of Trade dispute cases
  • Monitor internet resources for trade updates.
  • Market surveys for selected products & trade promotion activities, providing trade related / sector specific inputs for visiting delegations
  • Publicizing and promoting Indian trade fairs through Embassy’s website and local Chambers.  Activities connected with trade shows and promotional meetings
  • Liaison with US companies for meetings as and when required
  • Liaison with USDOC, USTR & other us Government Agencies as required
  • Protocol duties with visiting delegations
  • Any other duties assigned from time to time

  Initial Pay: US$ 3120 p.m. + 75 p.m. (towards medical insurance premium).

(3)      Marketing Executive (Education)

Required qualification and skill set:

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited University;
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of work experience in the field of education, preferably in the U.S. education system.
  • Research experience in the field of education (desirable);
  • Proficiency in English, good communication skills, social media and computer skills; and
  • Should be willing to travel across USA to visit various educational institutions.

Work Profile:

  • Assist in establishing and promoting institutional linkages and exchanges between educational institutions in India and the US;
  • Assist in liaison with the U.S. Government Departments dealing in the area of education or those having impact on Indian students in the US;
  • Liaison with various educational institutions in the U.S.;
  • Connecting with and supporting Indian students in the USA;
  • Analysis and reporting on important developments in the field of education in USA and India; and
  • Any other work assigned from time to time.

Initial Pay: US$ 3666 p.m. + 75 p.m. (towards medical insurance premium).

(4)      Marketing Assistant (Education)

Required qualifications and skill set: 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited University;
  • Work experience of at least one year in the field of education preferably in the U.S. educational institutions;
  • Adequate proficiency in English, communication, social media skills, and computer skills; and
  • Should be willing to travel across the USA to visit various educational Institutions

Work Profile:

  • Assist in liaison with the U.S. Government Departments dealing with the field of education or those having impact on Indian students in the US;
  • Liaison with various educational institutions and groups in the U.S.;
  • Assist in outreach activities involving engagement with and supporting Indian students in the USA, and organizing student-centric events;
  • Assist in ongoing education related activities and visits of delegations to strengthen education cooperation;
  • Maintaining online and social media presence related to the education wing of the Embassy; and maintaining database of university contacts and Indian students; and
  • Any other work assigned from time to time.

         Initial Pay: US$ 3120 p.m. + 75 p.m. (towards medical insurance premium).
