1. Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has written to US President George W. Bush today expressing grief at the death and devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina. Conveying India’s sympathy at the loss of life and the hardship that so many families are undergoing in large swathes of southern United States, the Prime Minister wrote that “our prayers are with them”.

2. The External Affairs Minister Shri K. Natwar Singh has also written to his counterpart US Secretary of State Dr. Condoleezza Rice, expressing sympathy and solidarity with the United States saying that “we are with you during these trying times”
