            The Embassy of India, Washington DC, held its third “Consular Open House” on February 01, 2017 to address the grievances of the people on issues related to visas, passports and OCI cards. The Consular Open House is a part of the new initiatives recently announced by the Ambassador. 

            A large number of applicants turned up for the event and their problems and grievances were attended to by senior officers in Consular and Community Affairs Wings.  

            Apart from general applicants, Community leaders from several Sikh organizations and Gurudwaras based in Washington DC, Virginia and Maryland also had a Meeting with senior Consular Officers to discuss various issues of the local Sikh community. Mr. Arun K. Sinha, Minister (Consular), apprised them about the new initiatives taken by the Government of India to address consular problems relating to the Indian diaspora in general and the Sikh community in particular. Specific issues raised by the community leaders were also addressed.           

            The ‘Consular Open House’ continues to receive appreciation from all quarters, and particularly from the Indian community. The Embassy holds Open Houses every month on the first Wednesday from 10.00 AM to 01.00 PM and on the third Wednesday from 2.00 PM to 5.00 PM.
