Senator Moynihan hosts lunch for
Mr. P.R. Kumaramangalam, Indian Minister for Power

Senator Daniel P. Moynihan today hosted a lunch in honour of the visiting Indian Minister for Power, Mr. P.R. Kumaramangalarn. The lunch was attended among others by Ambassador Naresh Chandra, Sen. Jesse Helms, Sen. Robert J. Kerrey, Sen. William Roth, Sen. Connie Mack, Sen. Paul Sarbanes and Sen. Charles S. Robb. Assistant Secretary of State Karl Inderfurth was also present.

During the discussions, Mr. Kumaramangalain highlighted the developments in the power sector in India in the context of the economic reforms which have taken place over the last six years and focussed on the investment opportunities available in that sector. Participants in the luncheon meeting stressed the importance of continuing close bilateral friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Mr. Kumaramangalam also attended yesterday a gala evening organised by the Confederation of Indian Industries and the Embassy of India which featured a classical musical recital and a scintillating fashion show.
