P R E S S R E L E A S E - Ambassador Meera Shankar extends invitation to South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley to visit India

                Governor Nikki Haley of South Carolina met Ambassador Meera Shankar in Washington DC.  Ambassador  recalled the impressive ceremony of Governor Haley's inauguration in which she participated and remarked that this was a proud moment for the Indian-American community.  

                Governor Haley said that she looked forward to strengthening trade and economic relations between the State of South Carolina and India and was particularly interested in attracting investment to South Carolina, which would provide momentum to their economy.  Ambassador discussed with Governor Haley the great potential for mutually beneficial economic engagement with the fast-growing Indian economy and briefed her on developments in the Indian Economy and on India-U.S. relations.  She extended an invitation to Governor Haley to visit India along with a Trade and Business delegation and Governor Haley responded positively.  They decided to be in touch to finalize a mutually convenient timeframe and to prepare for the visit.
