Ambassador Meera Shankar called on the Hon'ble John Boehner (R-Ohio), Speaker of the newly elected U.S. Congress on 2nd March 2011.  The discussion focused on the positive and strategic relationship between India and the United States, which enjoys bipartisan support in the U.S. as well as broad spectrum political support in India.  The opportunities for further cooperation, including in the trade, economic, energy and high technology areas were also discussed.  Speaker Boehner remarked that the relationship with India was one of the important relationships for the U.S., including for the Congress.
