JOB VACANCY

The Embassy of India in Washington DC invites applications for the following positions from the applicants who are either US citizens or permanent residents, residents with valid appropriate visa and valid work permit: -

(1)       Junior Clerk(Protocol)

Required qualifications and skill set:

  • Bachelor degree from an accredited University;
  • Sound knowledge of computer skills, especially MS Office;
  • Work experience of at least one year in the field of tourism, hotel or aviation;
  • Proficiency in English;
  • Excellentcommunication and interpersonal skills.

Work Profile:

  • Coordinate with key stakeholders to facilitate arrival and departure arrangements for high-level visits and dignitaries;
  • To liaise with the relevant US agencies in submitting the paperwork for completing the formalities for the visiting delegations and members of the Mission;
  • Build and maintain relationship with the vendors of airlines, transportation companies;
  • Provide professional advice on protocol, events and logistics issues;
  • Management of the Embassy fleet of vehicles, which includes coordination with chauffeurs and relevant agencies;
  • To undertake administrative work related to Protocol Section. 

Initial Pay: US$ 2886 p.m. + 75 p.m. (towards medical insurance premium).

(2)       Handyman

Required qualifications and skill set:

  • Good working experience of electrical, plumbing, carpentry and HVAC systems;
  • Adequate communication skills in English.

Work Profile

To carry out the following work at Embassy of India and properties/residences owned by the Embassy:

  • Electrical – repair and maintenance of electrical gadgets, troubleshooting all electrical problems, repair and replacement of light fixtures and cables.
  • Plumbing – carry out repairs and replacements of faucets, cistern tanks, bathroom fittings, minor repairs of plumbing system in the Embassy buildings and residences.
  • Carpentry – carry out minor repairs of furniture, doors and window fittings, assembly of new furniture, all other works related to carpentry.
  • HVAC system- trouble shooting of HVAC system in Embassy buildings and residences.
  • Any other work assigned from time to time.

Initial Pay: US$ 3120 p.m. + 75 p.m. (towards medical insurance premium).

(3)       Chauffeur

Required qualifications and skill set:

  • Grade 12 or above;
  • Valid driver’s license and experience of at least 3 years of driving skills;
  • Good verbal communication skills in English.
  • Should be willing to work in odd working hours and on weekends/ holidays.

Work Profile

  • To drive official vehicle to various destinations within and outside DC;
  • To maintain logbook of the vehicle allotted;
  • To maintain and keep allotted vehicle tidy and clean;
  • Any other work assigned from time to time.

Initial Pay: US$ 3120 p.m. + 75 p.m. (towards medical insurance premium). Additional overtime allowance as applicable.
